And Then There Was Silence

Words

There are words out there that are put together in such a way that resonates with me very well. I found this quote from Cry, The Beloved Country;

Cry, the beloved country, for the unborn child that is the inheritor of our fear. Let him not love the earth too deeply. Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be too moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much.

And there's a Poem called, Aedl wishes for the Clothes of Heaven, by William Butler Yeats;

HAD I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

And so I ask, are there any poems that you find particularly beautiful? That resonate with you?
