Buffy bored

movie and travel

I watched The Constant Gardener on Monday. It's a very lovely film. I really appreciated that way they kept the audience guessing until the end and the camera work and well... everything. I thought it was a beautifully crafted movie. I highly recommend everyone watch it if they get a chance. It's one of those movies that should be studied in high school.

Working out logistics for Japan has been a slow process, which is good. It means that if I get little things done here and there, I wont be stressed out later on. But a lot of stuff I need to do now involves money. I emailed Dad about it, asking for his advice and he reckons I should go ahead and think of doing some fund raising. So I intend to talk to Clare Deeves about it and hear some of her suggestions. I've never fund raised for myself.

Hah, except for that house warming with the "buy Kat a fridge" fund. And other such incidents

But this is a few thousand dollars. I'm not certain how much I'll need. I started a spreadsheet with the things that I thought of off the top of my head and did a quick google search for prices. Already it's 3 and a half grand. I'm guestimating it's going to be about 6-8 grand all up for a two and half month trip and assorted travel stuff.

I know that a lot of you are (probably) opposed to the idea of missionary work, and I don't blame you for that. I've had a few discussions with people regarding this and I can see various reasons why you would be. But if anything happens, expect an invite anyway. For those who are on board with missionary work, I'm starting a "get Kat to Japan" fund that would kindly appreciate donations. :D ~.^

Edit 3:15pm - Just received an email from Mike in Japan informing me that I'll be working in a church planting environment! wootzor! I have been helping out church plants since 2005! This is my kinda environment. Mind you, different crowd, so we'll see how that goes. Also, I'll be assigned to a missionary while I'm there and there are a few who are eager to have me! So wootzor for that too!
