Today was Grand

Today was long and busy and I can't believe it's the end of Saturday and my week off from uni. :P

I woke up at 6:30, left the house at 7:30 to start work at 8. The first hour of work passed super quickly as I went around clearing the fitting rooms from the pitiful mess they were in. I finished at 12 and went to Jacinta's house. And I voted. Yay for the Australian government! I really like our system and I'm very thankful that we have compulsory voting. It rocks!

So at Jacinta's, there was cleaning and setting up and cooking and shopping. The official starting time was 2:30 in order to get a menu together, shop and cook, but apart from Boyd who came at 3:30, no one else rocked up until 5-6ish. So we set the menu instead. There were canapes, entree, mains AND dessert. So much food! I am stuffed. But it was a really good time. I made pie for dessert and although everyone only got a narrow slice, I think that was all anybody could have handled.

I had some really good conversations over dinner and I caught up with people I hadn't seen in a while. All up, my day was grand. But now I'm popped. But I feel for Cint who still has people over and a house to clean. I thankfully had the luxury of leaving early and not feeling guilty because I arrived so early to help with set up and preparation. But I still feel for her.

Chatted to Miranda about this scholarship that the government offers education students in their 4th year. They give you a bunch of money on the condition that you teach in a country town for your first 2 years of teaching. They then give you extra money as you teach. I'd like to apply and possibly save that money towards a nest egg. It'd be super fantastic if I then was able to teach in Carnarvon, because then I could live with my parents at the same time. But... it's all something I'm seriously considering now. I only want to teach for a could of years anyway, before I go for either a Bachelor or Grad Dip of Theology, which'll be another 2-3 years of study, then mission work - if God so wills it. Something to think about.
